This exhibition explored the intricate relationship between artist self-portrait and chosen artwork. My self portrait "Me Lookin" and my other chosen art work "Beautiful Table"which is a still life painting are cohesive stylistically but the pair is also like a mirror. The self portrait is from the perspective the table sees, when I absorb and admire something beautiful and unique that it inspires me to paint it. It depicts the stare when something lights up my eye or when a painting is becoming the vision you see in real life. While the "Beautiful Table" is literally that, its what I see! The imagery of flowers, fresh fruit, and vegetables represents me taking care of my mental and physical health and how those beautiful surroundings fuel my creative spirit. Both painting can be seen in my portfolio.
This group show featured 30 local Charlotte artist and their work created during Free Range's weekly free figure drawing sessions on Sundays. The two works I displayed are one of my favorite figure drawing pieces with a splash of color added, "Get it Girl!" and "Nudity Beauty", which is a depiction of a room and scene never photographed (for privacy reasons) but one I captured from my imagination. Both painting can be seen in my portfolio.
